MEN'S BUYING GUIDE

Ape to Gentleman on buying for her

17.11.2017

Buying gifts for your better half can be an ordeal in itself, but purchasing lingerie can be a minefield. Luckily for you, I’m here to help. There are two very simple key points that should be considered when making your choice…

1. Know her size - By hook or by crook you should find out your partner’s size, you can easily offend someone by going too big or too small. It’s also a good guideline for which shapes to choose.

2. Know her style – Although you might be tempted to go for something radical, it’s worth bearing in mind what you’ve seen her wear before. With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve selected three of my favourite pieces from Figleaves that are guaranteed to put a smile on her face…and yours.

It’s worth noting that if your gift-receiver has a larger bust that she may not appreciate certain flimsier styles. It just so happens that Figleaves goes up to a size K and knows what women want and need when it comes to well-fitting bras. A good example of this is the Surrender plunge bra, which provides a decent amount of uplift and coverage without forgoing that all-important sex appeal. With underwired cups and semi-transparent lace panelling, she will find the Surrender set both suggestive and supportive.

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of tradition around this time of year and that’s why opting for red is an obvious but usually well-received choice. The Tease basque and coordinating Tease thong fuse a classically seductive silhouette with just the right amount of Christmas cheer. With an overtly sexy appeal and an obvious dedication to craftsmanship, this set is a guaranteed hit.

Of course there is more to life than just lingerie and Figleaves’ Lana set proves that point with aplomb. Cut from 100 per cent silk and edged with delicate lace, there’s an old school glamour to these sophisticated pyjamas. With a chic low-cut crossover back cami and loose-fit shorts, you’ll both be thanking me for recommending this slinky number.

So this Christmas, say no to novelty and instead opt for grown-up charm and subtly suggestive style. Think sultry not silly when choosing for your partner and don’t forget that it’s a gift for both of you to enjoy.
