Here, at figleaves, we feel the most important way of assesing your bra size is to try on different styles and to use the bras fitting guide to determine what feels right and what gives you the correct shape. It is not always easy to determine your underband sizing with a tape measure and brands do vary from each other. However, if you still are unsure and you want a measurement to give you a rough guide or starting point we have devised a simple chart for you to follow. Please note that this is a guide only and as bras come in many shapes and styles we advocate that you still use the fit guides to help to achieve the look and feel that you require.

Find Your Band Size
- band size measurement is the ribcage measurement and not the size of the cup - it is always refered to in numbers eg, 32, 34 or 36 etc
- place a tape measure around your body just under your ribcage
- ensure the tape is level front & back - use a mirror and you may want to enlist the help of a friend to help you
- pull the tape tightly around your body - remember, that a bra will stretch when worn but the tape will not!
- use the table below to calculate what back size you are for example - underband measurement on the tape measure is 32" = bra band size 36 - if you fall inbetween inch sizing always go up

find your cup size
If your new band size has changed your cup size will most certainly have - if you have gone down 2 band sizes you will go up two cup sizes eg if you were previously 38B and you are now wearing 34 your cup size will now be D cup - highlighted below.

Points to remember
- use these table guides as a starting point only and use it in conjunction with the fit guides
- the same cup sizes will not be the same on different band sizes eg The cup size of a 32D will not be the same as a 36D.It depends on the bra band size as shown in the chart above
- the new size may not feel right for you especially if you have been wearing a bra that fitted incorrectly - the most common fault is wearing a bra that has been too loose in the underband, therefore your new band size will feel tighter. If your new band size is more than two sizes different you may feel it more comfortable to change one size at a time
- the tape measure can only provide a rough guide and you will only know by trying on different styles and following the guides
- remember the most important thing is to have the bra fitting correctly. Try on different shapes to see what suits you and what make you feel comfortable
- bra sizing may appear complicated - in fact it is very simple if you follow the steps above
Euro and US size comparisons
The charts below show there is quite a difference in sizing between different countries. There is quite a difference, especially in the larger cup sizes so use this for guidance only in conjunction with the fit guides.
