Finding the right sized bra

Importance of fit

Did you know that 70% of women in the UK wear the wrong size bra? We all know that the most important feature of any bra is the fit, and yet many women go through life wearing the wrong back size, wrong cup size, or both. We also know that many products size differently so that you might be a 34D in one brand and a 36C in another.
At Figleaves, we stock such a large range of styles and sizes that, whatever your size, there’s something for you. But before you order, go through our sizing guide to make sure that you’re ordering the right size, and if the bra doesn’t fit perfectly when you receive it, we’ll exchange it for another size, or give you a full refund.

Measuring yourself

Follow our guide for self-measuring and we'll have you fitted out in no time. And if you still don't like the fit, we'll refund you straight away with our no-quibble returns guarantee. Fitting a bra yourself is easy, we recommend wearing an unpadded bra whilst measuring yourself to increase the accuracy of your results. Click here for our interactive bra measuring guide.

Bra Sizing Checklist

Follow our checklist below to ensure your bra fits properly:

1.Bra needs to feel fairly tight and firm on the loosest hook when it is new, bras stretch up to 4" in the back with wear.
2.Centre section inbetween cups must be flat on the body.
3.Breasts should not spill out or bulge from the cups on any bra, even soft cup ones.
4.After prolonged wear the bra should not leave any deep marks or lines on the body.
5.Most important of all, on an underwired bra, the wire should rest on your rib cage and not on the breast tissue, this is so the area directly under the wire is hard bone and not soft breast tissue, even at the sides.

Labelling

From time to time you may notice that our products may read 34A (label 1) or 34A (lbl 1), this is because we sell products from all over the world to countries with different sizing conventions.

34A represents what Figleaves believe the standard bra size for the product is. Label 1 or Lbl 1 (when we don’t have space!) is the size that you will actually see on the label of the bra. We’ve included both so that you won’t be surprised when the product arrives.

Bra Search

Figleaves has developed a revolutionary bra search that will help you find the right sized bra. Simply enter your "standard" bra size (as described above) with any other features you are looking for (including colour, style, price etc.) and we will suggest the products we sell which match your criteria.
Where we think a product sizes differently, or is labelled in a non-traditional size (e.g., many Italian ranges are sized S/M/L), we will recommend the size we think will fit you best.

Sizing issues with different countries

Cup grading across brands from different countries needs a little clarification.

The basic rule is that French bras do not come in a DD cup. So sometimes a French E fits like a DD and a French F fits like an E. French brands include: Aubade, Chantelle, First by Perele, Lejaby, Passionata and Simone Perele.

On the other hand American brands are sometimes available in DDD cup. This is usually the biggest available cup in the range and fits like an E cup. American brands include Wacoal.
