The Role

  • To assist the Warehouse Manager with the smooth running of the warehouse by managing the day to day operations in 2 of the 4 sections within a fast-paced global distribution centre. Making sure all targets are reported and achieved daily and the Company’s KPI’s are maintained to a high level, the role plays an integral part in sustaining Figleaves industry-recognised reputation for distribution excellence.
  • The role is responsible for a team of between 20 and 35 Warehouse Operatives with the support of 2 Senior Operatives ensuring that team members carry out all aspects of the distribution process in line with current best practice and in the Figleaves way of working.
  • As part of the Operations Management Team the Floor Manager will play an active role in reviewing and refining all aspects of Operations on a continual basis.

Accountabilities

To maximize employee resource and productivity. To monitor and report daily KPI figures to the Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager. Create short and long term departmental objectives in accordance with Company goals and growth. Ensure productivity/health & Safety/sickness (duty of care) procedures are adhered to. Liaising with the technical department to keep updated with any changes/upgrades/issues or for implementing new procedures. Identify and resolve problems as they arise. Key holder for opening warehouse and for alarm call-out.

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards work, colleagues, managers and the company.
  • Leads by example in the actions and reactions to the various challenges and demands of a fast-paced operation.<
  • Guarantees a high morale within the warehouse by recognising individual talent and skills by praise and promoting from within.
  • Provides motivation, knowledge and experience to the Senior Operatives.
  • Conducts bonus and appraisal reports as necessary.
  • To ensure that all staff are properly trained to carry out the duties assigned to them.
  • Maintain good working relations with your own team, and other departments by communicating effectively.

Customer

  • Builds relationships with the relevant internal departments to ensure that the Customers buying experience with Figleaves.com supersedes any other.
  • Makes decisions based on the level of impact on the Customers Experience.
  • Ensures the quality of the product entering and leaving the Warehouse is of a suitably high standard as to enhance the Customer Experience

Finance

  • Works with the Warehouse Manager with regards to sourcing new costings for materials and consumables.
  • Actively works towards reducing turnover of headcount and managing absence.
  • Promote a continuous improvement environment where unnecessary costs are challenged and reduced.

Operations

  • Communicate business decisions and changes to working practices clearly.
  • Is willing and able to accept and follow through unpopular decisions.
  • Be proactive in approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Assign duties where there is a ‘lull’ in workload, preparing boxes and multi-skilling across sections – reducing idle time and increasing interest and value to the individual.
  • Effectively support decisions made by the business and line managers.
