For every mother

Today, unusually I am not sharing tales of my small, saggy boobs. Rather, I am calling out to all my fellow mums across the globe to say the two words we can never hear enough…

While the world around us seems to be stopping, a mother’s world never stops, not even for a day.

And although we might all be facing a slightly different Mother’s Day to the one we initially had planned, we want to take this chance, now more than ever, to say thank you. To every mother, everywhere.

We say thank you to you, in case you don’t get thanked enough by those around you. For all those unseen acts and seemingly insignificant necessities nobody even knows you do.

We thank you if your children are so busy embracing and fulfilling the life you’ve given them, they forget to stop and say a simple ‘thanks mum’.

At such uncertain times, we say thank you for holding it all together and making it all ok, while hiding the fact that inside you want someone to hold you and tell you that it will all be ok.

We are here to back you up, to whisper in your ear ‘you can do this’, whether it’s a workout, work meeting, feeling good about yourself again or simply getting through a tough time.

The type of mother we each are is so different; each beautifully unique. We follow differing parental methods, love different children, like different fashions and are all different shapes and sizes. Not one of us is identical nor leading the exact same life. And that’s exactly as it should be.

Embrace your uniqueness and find ‘you’ again. Give yourself time. And grace. And caffeine, plenty of caffeine.

We are here to back you up, to whisper in your ear ‘you can do this’, whether it’s a workout, work meeting, feeling good about yourself again or simply getting through a tough time.

We can offer you comfort for cosy nights in, and help you find your inner womanly goddess once more. We can be with you through the sleepless nights of breastfeeding or help you find confidence in your new mummy skin. We can inspire you to work out, but also to work for it.

We lift you. Praise you. Cheer for every body.

We will help guide you, but also allow you to guide us and make this a place for you. A community you can trust and be yourself within. And one that adheres to the guidelines of social distancing, but gives you contact to adult life beyond motherhood.

In a world where we are trying to uplift each other more and more, we are thanking you for all you do for mums, women, daughters, grandmothers, sisters and beyond. For being everything to everyone and more. For putting others before yourself.

But we also encourage you to find that ‘you’ time this Mother’s Day and every day. Because you are important. You matter. You are loved. You are a mother. The most thankless yet honourable role you shall ever play.
