We’ve got a crush on you

To celebrate Valentine’s Day in true style, we got together with some of our favourite social media influencers for a dreamy day filled with laughter and support – both emotional and bra-based. These women represent many of our core values with their honest and empowering stories. They’re our crush this year, so who better to model our Valentine’s lingerie collection? And because we know how lucky we are to have had time to get to know them, we thought you all deserved to chance too…

Women over 40 still want to feel and look sexy. I like knowing I’m wearing something sexy when I step out of the door.

RACHEL PERU

How did you find the experience?

“From the moment I arrived I could tell it was going to be a great shoot. I am 50 this year and it’s a dream job for me to be able to help represent women my age in lingerie campaigns as it’s something I’m really passionate about. All the models on the day were so different and I loved watching everyone’s confidence grow through the shoot.”

What’s your number one self love tip?

“Make time for yourself. Even if it means pencilling in your diary some time out to allow yourself time to do something you really love doing.”

What do you love most about yourself?

“My smile, I am generally a happy person and find it hard not to smile. My curves, I spent lots of wasted years not feeling comfortable with them but now I have embraced my body. My attitude to life, I have found a new lease of life in my forties and enjoy new challenges. ”

There’s nothing quite like modelling in lingerie when you’re used to being behind the scenes. Any nerves I had completely disappeared on the day – I was with the best group of women.

EMMA OSMAN

What made you say yes to taking part?

“Honestly, to show you can do anything – it doesn’t matter about your size or appearance, that should never be a factor that holds you back.”

What were you wearing and how did it make you feel?

“I wore the Figleaves Pulse body in red, which made me feel empowered, fiery and confident. I also wore the Figleaves Juliette Lace Underwired bra – I’d wear this bra on a day to day basis, it was so pretty, comfy and supportive.”

What do you love most about yourself?

“It’s truly silly how hard this question can be! But I love that I’m a strong person, I love that I’m passionate about the things that I care about, and I love my attitude to life, I give my best and remain honest to myself.”

Who’s your crush?

“I’ve definitely got a woman crush Lizzo, without a doubt. Her energy and body confidence are everything I aspire to be.”

Love the body you’re in. I have recently started making more time for myself for some pampering, or yoga, and it makes me remember I am my own person as well as being mum, cook and cleaner.

LAUREN MARTIN

What made you say yes to taking part?

“My other half actually encouraged me to do the shoot, and I’m so glad he did now! It was an amazing experience, and I enjoyed every minute.”

What were you wearing and how did it make you feel?

“The Fleur – a two piece bra and high waisted set first which was my favourite! I loved the high waisted briefs. I also had two body suits which were also just as lovely.”

What do you love most about yourself?

“Being a mum of three boys (one who still wakes every two hours through the night) – I think it’s the ability to carry on through tiredness and sometimes chaos. No matter how tired I am I am the one who tends to hold everyone together.”

Whos’ your crush?

“Jason Mamoa. He comes across as a really nice guy and a lovely family man, plus he’s great looking!”

I love my eyes. I was bullied about them as a child but now they are my fave feature.

KAZ FONCETTE

What made you say yes to taking part?

“I wanted to not only represent women from my ethnic group, but also women who have had breast cancer. I wanted it to be a moment I could look back on and think, wow, I did that and look how amazing I look despite everything I’ve been through. It was a moment to really appreciate my body and being amongst other women of all shapes, sizes and ages was really empowering.”

What were you wearing and how did it make you feel?

“I felt so, so sexy. Being in all of the garments made me feel beautiful and having had so much surgery due to breast cancer, I felt amazing despite everything my body had been through and what it looks like.”

What’s your number one self love tip?

“Enjoy your own presence with yourself and not relying on others to make you feel happy. I love spending time alone and really value those moments.”

I love my figure and skin tone. Figleaves have hugely helped me accept my larger bust due to their vast styles and ranges of bras, bikinis and bodies.

WANDE ALUGO

What made you say yes to taking part of this shoot?

“As a huge fan of Figleaves, I just couldn’t say no. The brand that’s helped me accept my fuller bust whilst remaining young and stylish.”

What were you wearing and how did it make you feel?

“The garments I wore were amazing. I particularly love the pink Freya Fancies set, as it looked stunning against my skin tone. It’s not usually a colour I would go for.”

What’s your number one self love tip?

“Always love your size and shape no matter what because there are so many more important things in life. I look in the mirror and tell myself that my body is amazing and perfect for me.”

I love that I’m passionate. When something is important to me, you definitely know about it.

JOSIE STEVENS

What made you say yes to taking part?

“How could I not say yes? It was such a great idea to put real women in the campaign and I absolutely adore Figleaves.”

How did you find the experience?

“Incredible! In all honesty, I’ve not worn a bikini in years because I’m not keen on how my body looks post-children, but the group couldn’t have been better.  The day was full of positive vibes, everyone supporting each other and making you feel like you were absolutely killing it when it was your turn in front of the camera – it was real queens fixing each other’s crowns.”

What’s your number one self love tip?

“To try not to overthink things. Overthinking can become a vicious circle, you can become very critical of yourself and the smallest of things can all of a sudden be all-consuming.”

What were you wearing and how did it make you feel?

“I loved the Pulse set that I was wearing.  It made me feel seriously sexy, but supported and comfortable – how often can you say that about underwear?”
