We know all bodies look great on the beach, but not everyone feels super self-assured stripping down to a swimsuit. So we’ve put together an easy guide to flatter your shape. Beach confidence this way…
Support your bust
Cup-sized bikini tops are available up to a size K to offer a lingerie-fit.
Both wired and non-wired bikinis can offer ample support and coverage.
Having a bigger bust is something many women dream of, but we know for some it can be a real struggle when it comes to swimwear. What you need is exceptional support and lift. Think underwiring and moulded cups that will help keep your breasts in place and avoid any unwanted bulges. But equally our soft fit swimwear offers support and will fit up to an F, such as our soft wrap halter neck while our triangle bikini gives full coverage with secure over-the-shoulder straps. Bikini tops that run a little longer at the bottom are also great for extra grip. At Figleaves you have the added benefit of being able to choose swimsuits by cup size – we go up to a K – which is perfect for personalising the support you receive.
Colour blocking can enhance your silhouette, and sometimes give a waist line to add shape.
Prints that draw the eyeline inwards create a slimming effect.
Faking a smooth silhouette poolside is a lot easier than you might think. Clever colour placement like contrasting block panels create the illusion of a more streamlined silhouette, while prints that are centered draw the eye inwards creating a slimming effect. Look out for designs that feature gathers and ruching too, which also do wonders for camouflaging targeted areas.
Flatter your hips
A different colour or print top section help draws attention upwards.
High-cut briefs help balance out your shape and make legs appear longer.
Don’t be fooled into thinking you need to cover them up. While it might be tempting to opt for low-cut swimsuits and boy shorts for extra coverage, what you actually want to do is the opposite. High-cut briefs are superb at balancing out your proportions, with the added bonus of lengthening your legs. Another simple trick is to divert the attention upwards by choosing a one-piece with a plunge front or colour/print at the top.
Slim your tummy
Ruching and discreet tummy control will give you increased confidence.
Wrap-over ties distract attention and offer coverage where you want it.
If you’re feeling self-conscious about your midriff, you needn’t, there are plenty of styles to help minimise it. Details like darting at the centre of the swimsuit create a slimming effect, while ruched material and ruffles also subtly flatter. Another thing you can always count on are our tummy control swimsuits that are designed with a secret weapon – powernet lining – an ingenious fabric that expertly smooths and streamlines your mid-section.
